Estimation of age by eruption of permanent canine tooth in male and female subjects of south Karnataka, Indian population

Estimation of age by eruption of permanent canine tooth is an important prime tool & one of the parameter of Medical fields, Biology and Anthropology. The present study consists of 300 subjects of South Karnataka which were divided into 150 males & 150 females among the subjects, in the age group of 08–12 years. The aim of the study is to estimate the range of age from recent eruption of permanent canine tooth by their traits in both upper and lower jaw and also for right and left sides of the same jaw than compare the observation of previous research studies who studied the eruption of permanent canine tooth and also among the urban and rural males population adolescents. Statistical analysis like range of age, mean and standard deviation were calculated. The study revealed that the eruption of permanent canine tooth was found to be 66% in males when compared to 77% in females of age group of 11 year were found to be statistically highly significant (p<0.01).
