Adsorption properties of supported nanoparticles

The book presents the results of investigations of physical-chemical properties of gold and organoboron nanoparticles that were carried out during the past at Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics of Russian Academy of Sciences. Using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, modified to identify the products of elementary stages of chemical interaction, some characteristics of nanoparticles such as size, shape, electronic structure and adsorption characteristics of nanoparticles deposited on graphite, and oxidized silicon have been found. The results obtained were proved in quantum chemical simulations performed in the framework of the density functional theory.
