Agrochemicals: Ecotoxicology and management in aquaculture

2021
Abstract This chapter reviews the use of agrochemicals and their potential negative impacts on the environment and aquatic species, as well as explores alternatives to minimize their ecotoxicity. Ecotoxic effects on nontarget organisms of aquaculture interest such as fish, crustaceans, and mollusks, with potential health risks to humans will be discussed. Another important question is the banned pesticides, especially the persistent organic pollutants that are still found in the soil, water, and sediments around the world. This chapter also discusses the effects of agrochemicals on aquatic animals of aquaculture interest and the new developments in the regulation of new agrochemicals that aim to protect nontarget organisms.
