Impact of New “Triple I” Classification on the Incidence of Clinical Chorioamnionitis and Antibiotic Use in Neonates

Background: The CDC currently recommends blood culture and empiric antibiotics for all neonates born to mothers with suspected chorioamnionitis (CDC 2010). This can lead to excess antibiotic exposure and separation from mothers.
