CT Diagnosis of Intra-hepatic Intra-ductal Cholangiocarcinoma

2006
Objective:To investigate the CT features of intrahepatic intraductal cholangiocarcinoma (IICC).Methods:The clinical and CT findings in 11 patients with surgically proved intrahepatic intraductal cholangiocarcinoma were retrospectively analyzed. Results:Of the 11 patients,4 patients were peripheral type, with tumor involving intra-hepatic bile duct,5 patients were porta hepatis type and 2 patients were mixed type, with tumor invading both intra-hepatic bile duct and porta hepatis simultaneously. No patients had the background of liver cirrhosis.Segmental or lobar dilatation of the intra-hepatic bile ducts associated with or without intraductal polypoid mass, slight hyper-dense dilated bile ducts and amorphous morphology of the tumor, were common CT findings of IICC.The capability of tumor detection depends on the size of intra-ductal mass. Conclusion:To some extent,IICC has characteristic imaging manifestations, which played an essential role in the pre-operation CT diagnosis.
