A method for detecting an analyte of interest comprising: providing capture particles derivatized with said analyte; providing particles of SERS detection nanolabels conjugated with a first molecule capable of selectively binding said analyte; contacting a sample which may contain the analyte of interest to the capture particles and detection nanolabels SERS, thereby forming an analyte / detection particle with nanolabels SERS and a complex capture particle / particle detection nanolabels SERS ; concentrating the complex particle capture / detection particle with nanolabels SERS; and detecting the Raman spectrum of a Raman reporter molecule associated with the particles with nanolabels SERS detection.
