Modified electroconductive polymer and its production

1988
PURPOSE: To easily obtain a modifyied electroconductive polymer by exchanging the part or total of anions of a soluble electroconductive polymer, taking account of the solubility product of the salt containing new anion, and regurating the solution equilibrium. CONSTITUTION: The soluble electroconductive polymer (e.g.; 3-butylthiophene/ pyrrole copolymer) is prepared by polymerization of 20-100% monomer of the formula (R 1 is a 2-22C alkyl, 1-12 alkoxy, etc.; R 2 is H or a 1-12C alkyl or alkoxy) and 80-0% copolymerizable electron rich hetero-aromatic compound. Then 10-100% anions of the polymer are exchanged with the new inorganic or orgaic anions in the presence of the dissolveed salts containing the new anions (e.g.; tetrafluoroborate anion) taking account of the solubility product of the salt present and regulating the solution equilibrium to obtain the objective modified electroconductive polymer.
