Early stage in triple negative breast cancer: Breast conservative surgery versus mastectomy.

e12619Background: The World Health Organization approved the breast-conserving surgery (BCS) in 1969. In spite of the aggressiveness of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), BCS has demonstrated to be a promising alternative to mastectomy. In that way, we conducted 9 years of follow up of peruvian women with Stage (S) I-IIA of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) to compare the surgical role and the relapse frequency among TNBC patients. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study among 540 patients diagnosed of TNBC with Stage (S) I-IIA at Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplasicas between 2000-2014. From all population, 486 underwent to surgery as first treatment. Characteristics were described by surgical technique: conservative or mastectomy. Differences in disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were assessed by Log-rank test. Prognostic factors were obtained by Cox Regression analysis.
