Die Kahnbeinpseudarthrose im Kindesalter

2002
Following literature, non union of scaphoid in childhood is a not existing problem. This is not correct! We put together the cases from Fulda and Kassel and found 12 children with non union of scaphoid during a time of 8 years. The age changed from 8 to 16 years. Non union of scaphoid in childhood has some speciallities in comparison with non union of adults. Up to the age of 11 or 12 years, in most cases you can't see the non union in normal X-ray investigation. Typical cystoid alteration shows picture to mistake it for tumor-like lesion, but the radiograph in an oblique position shows in most cases the typical non union, in case of doubt CT or MRT investigation leads to diagnosis. 11 children were treated by Matti-Russe-grafts, in all cases we reach bony union without any functional deficits. One child is waiting for operation.
