Effect of vaginal delivery and cesarean section on maternal pelvic floor muscle damage and on incidence rate of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia

2013
Objective:To explore the effect of different modes of delivery on maternal pelvic floor muscle damage and the incidence of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Methods:A total of 180cases with puerper in our hospital were selected as the object.According to the mode of delivery they were divided into spontaneous labor group(n=90)and cesarean section group(n=90).Pelvic floor muscle and incidence of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia rate of two groups were observed and compared. Results:Parturient pelvic muscle strength measurements showed that in spontaneous delivery group 43.3% women had weak strength,38.9% were relatively poor, and 16.7% had favorable strength and 1.1% were in good condition. There was no significant difference in muscle strength between two groups(cesarean section group were 47.8%,35.6,14.4%,2.2%,respectively)(P0.05).Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia incidence of spontaneous delivery group was 36.7%,and was 22.2%in cesarean section group, with significant difference between two groups(P0.05).Conclusions:Cesarean section and vaginal delivery have similar effect on maternal pelvic floor muscle, but the cesarean can significantly increase the incidence of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. We should choose delivery mode according to different requirement.
