The Impact of Transmission Range on Performance of Mobile Ad-hoc Network Routing Protocols

2020
Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is an infrastructure-less and self-organizing wireless network. Nodes in the MANET having limited transmission range due to power constrain. Effective Utilization of transmission power is challenging issue in the performance of mobile ad-hoc network. Variable transmission range is one of the important components in wireless network. The aim of this work is to present the simulation results of various transmission ranges under frequently using MANET routing protocols, such as Distance Sequence Distance Vector (DSDV), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad-hoc On-Demand Vector (AODV) routing protocols. The metrics selected for simulation to analyze with Network simulator 2.35 (NS2.35) are end-to-end delay, throughput, Packet delivery ratio (PDR) and average consumed energy. The achieved result could be used for better transmission power utilization.
