THE CORRELATION OF FOOD CONSUMPTION AND FAMILY INCOME WITH INCIDENCE OF STUNTING : HUBUNGAN KONSUMSI MAKANAN DAN PENDAPATAN KELUARGA DENGAN KEJADIAN STUNTING

2020
The 2017 Basic Health Research Data recorded the prevalence of national stunting reaching 37.2%, an increase from 2015 (35.6%) and 2017 (36.8%). The possibility of growth is not maximally suffered by around 8 million Indonesian children, or one in three Indonesian children. Basically stunting stemmed from family income. Low family income increases the purchasing power of food, so it increases the consumption of bad food for children. The purpose of this study was to study the correlate of food consumption and family expenditure with stunting at SDN Pajeleran 01, Bogor Regency in 2019.                This type of research is an analytic survey with cross sectional research. The population in this study was 48 grade VI students. Sampling technique with total sampling. The instrument used in this study is a checklist sheet about family income and stunting events, while for food consumption instruments use the FFQ (Food Frequency Questionaire) sheet. Data analysis techniques used in the form of univariate analysis (frequency distribution), bivariate (kendall tau), and multivariate (logistic regression).                The results were obtained from 48 respondents, 30 respondents (62.5%) with poor food consumption, 20 respondents (41.7%) with low income, 25 respondents (52.1%) did not use stunting (normal). Kendall test results to obtain the value of p value = 0.022 for the relationship of food consumption with the incidence of stunting, and p value = 0.019 for the relationship of family income with the incidence of stunting. From the regression test results obtained by the second variable opposing stunting events with the highest chance for stunting to occur is a food consumption factor with an Exp (B) or (OR) value higher than the Exp (B) or (OR) family income factor.                There is a correlation between food consumption and family income with the incidence of stunting in school-age children at Pajeleran 01 Elementary School, Bogor Regency in 2019 with a p value <0.05. The result of this research are expected to be a guideline for assessing nutritional status and the incidence of stunting in school age children.
