Transaxillary Endoscopic Breast Augmentation

2017
This chapter describes in detail the surgical steps involved in the transaxillary approach to breast augmentation. While the procedure can be performed without endoscopic assistance, the authors prefer the endoscopic approach to allow for tissue visualization and creation of a precise tissue pocket. Refinements in the approach allow for placement of any breast implant type using a partial subpectoral, subfascial, or subglandular tissue pocket. The focus of this chapter is on partial subpectoral placement of smooth wall silicone gel devices, utilizing endoscopic assistance in creation of the tissue pocket. Indications, preoperative markings, surgical steps, postoperative care, operative dictation, and suggested readings are included.
