Motorische Leistungsfähigkeit : Ein Indikator für die Gesundheit von Kindern und Jugendlichen (Leitthema)

2010
Lack of exercise and fitness as well as physical inactivity are increasingly significant health problems in modern societies. By a continuous and longitudinal analysis of the state of motor development - such as in the context of medical checkups - noticeable problems in childhood and adolescence can be detected and can serve as a basis for targeted intervention programs. A reliable diagnosis of the state of motor development, however, requires standardized test procedures, which can also be used economically and effectively in pediatric practice. As part of the “Motorik-Modul” (MoMo) study, the motor fitness of 4,529 German children and adolescents was assessed by using motor and computer-based tests. The obtained data served as the basis for compiling nationwide representative standard values. Using the standard values, it is possible to classify the state of motor fitness, follow its development, and enter the weight, size, and head circumference measurements to register the results in percentile curves.
