A new twist on light: applications of the optical vortex soliton

Summary form only given. Optical vortex solitons induce cylindrical waveguides within bulk nonlinear refractive media, allowing optical interconnections, and all-optical logic, modulation, and switching. Experimental and numerical explorations of these applications will be discussed.
