Comparison of the K−π+p and K+π−p final states in KLop reactions from 0.8 to 3.0 GeV/c

1973
Abstract The reactions K o p→ K − π + p and K o p→K + π − p were studied with a K L o -beam having a continuous incident momentum from ∼ 0.8 to ∼ 3 GeV/ c . Cross sections for these reactions are evaluated and it is found that σ( K o p→K − π + p)/σ(K + π − p) > 1 in the whole momentum range. No obvious structure is observed in the cross-section behaviour which could be attributed to s -chanel resonances. The production of resonances in both channels are investigated as a function of incident momentum. Strong presence of K ∗o (890), Y o ∗ (1520) and Δ ++ (1236)is observed in the S = −1 channel. In the S = +1 channel, strong K ∗ (890)N data and the present K o p→ K ∗o (890)p data were ablel to compute the I = 0 cross section, σ o ( K N→ K ∗ (890)N) , which is found to be larger than the corresponding I = 1 cross section.
