The influence of heat treatment on the structure and properties of in-situ TiC(subscript p)/Fe composite was studied. The results show that heat treatment can change the matrix microstructure of the composite, sequentially improves its hardness and toughness, Quenching and high tempering treatment receive the optimal obdurability. The heat treatment has no obvious effects on the primary mprphology, distribution and sizes of TiC particles in the composite. However, some fine secondary TiC particles were precipitated, which played some roles in enhancing the reinforced effect of the composite.
