Deep-brain stimulation for the treatment of chronic pain

This article reviews recent studies on deep-brain stimulation. Topics covered include patient selection, target selection surgical technique, and long-term results. Several case reports illustrate successes and complications. The authors opinion on the value and future of this technique is also provided.
