Spontaneous renal subcapsular or perinephric haematoma

2001
Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of spontaneous renal subcapsular and perinephric haematoma. Methods Seventeen cases of spontaneous renal subcapsular or perinephric haematoma were analyzed retrospectively. For imaging diagnosis, we used ultrasonography, computerized tomography (CT) and angiography. Thirteen cases were subjected to nephrectomy and one case was to renal biopsy, whereas the remaining 3 cases were treated conservatively. Results After follow up for 6-108 months, 3 patients died and 14 patients survived. Conclusions For diagnosis, imaging examinations are very valuable. For treatment, most of patients with perinephric hametoma should be operated on.
