Synovial osteochondromatosis of the hip.

2008
Background: A 45-year-old man presented with pain in the left inguinal region. His maximum walking distance did not exceed 1000 meters. He did not mention pain at rest or at night. Physical examination performed by an orthopedic surgeon demonstrated impaired passive movement of the left hip joint, a negative Trendelenburg sign and a negative Drehmann's sign. Three and a half years ago the patient underwent a liver transplantation because of severe liver cirrhosis. He was treated with 125 mg cyclosporine two times a day. MRI was performed after the initial conventional radiography of the hip to rule out avascular necrosis of the femoral head.
