Vaccination against Hepatitis B Virus in chronic renal disease patients

2008
: Dialysis patients are known to be at risk for blood borne infections and they were among the first target groups for immunization against Hepatitis B virus. Vaccination, together with universal precautions, decreased the incidence of infections in dialysis settings. After decades of studies regarding the circulation of the infection and the problems related to the low response to the vaccines, immunization is now less considered and the risk of Hepatitis B in dialysis settings could re-emerge.
