Short-term complications and managements following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy

Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a safe, relatively simple and could achieve better outcome of weight loss and metabolic remission. It has become the most accepted obesity surgery technique in recent years. Sleeve gastrectomy accounts for 61.4% of all weight loss procedures in the United States, and 95% in China. The most common short term complications of sleeve gastrectomy are gastric leakage, bleeding and postoperative vomiting. At present, bariatric surgery has been gradually carried out all over the country. It is of great significance to fully understand and deal with these complications, pay attention to the technique details and standardize the procedures. Therefore, we could perform the procedures well with less complications, ensuring the safety of patients. Key words: Sleeve gastrectomy; Complications; Bariatric surgery
