Experimental study on the flexural performance of SHCC-reinforced concrete composite beams

2013
The protective layer of reinforced concrete structure is prone to crack during construction and service process because of the mechanical load and environmental action, which cause steel corrosion, accelerate structural deterioration and weaken durability and security of the reinforced concrete structure. Therefore, the reinforced concrete structure is necessary to be maintained, repaired or retrofitted when the performance can't satisfy the design request.Polyvinyl alcohol fiber reinforced strain hardening cement-based composites possess high toughness, high tensile strength and high power consumption characteristic.Through the three points bending tests and four points bending tests of strain hardening cement-based composites-reinforce concrete superposed beams, the crack development phenomenon, the bonding effects and the influence of mechanical performance and of strain hardening cement-based composites-reinforce concrete structures have been investigated preliminarily. Results showed that compared with reinforced concrete beams, the bearing capacity and flexural performance of strain hardening cement-based composites-reinforce concrete superposed beams were both increased significantly.strain hardening cement-based composites has also played the role of limiting crack width and scattering concrete cracks.Consequently, the protective layer of concrete replaced with strain hardening cement-based composites will put the practical application in the structure reinforcement and repair.
