Influential factors of postpartum contraction pain intensity and puerperae' s quality of life

2013
Objective To explore the intervention countermeasures for improving the postpartum life quality of puerperae studying the impact of the postpartum contraction pain intensity of primiparae and multiparae on their sleep, diet, and emotion. Methods The pain intensity of 100 primiparae and multiparae who were induced after 28 weeks' gestations or had vaginal delivery were assessed using the visual analog scale (VAS)1 to 3 days after the delivery.Meanwhile, the puerperae' s sleep, diet, and emotion were observed. Results The contraction pain score of the multiparae was 3.5 points on the first postpartum day.The sleep quality of the multiparae was lower than that of the primiparae, with a statistical difference(P<0.5).However,there was no difference in diet and emotion between the primiparae and the multiparae. Conclusions The contraction pain of multiparae is so obvious on the first postpartum day that their sleep quality is affected,so some effective countermeasures should be taken to relieve their pain and improve their sleep quality.
