Evaluation of LEEP in the diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early cervical infiltrating carcinoma

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of loop electro-surgical excisional procedure(LEEP) in the diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)and early cervical infiltrating carcinoma.Methods Five hundred and forty-seven patients with CIN diagnosed by cytology-colposcopy-histology were analyzed retrospectively and compared with pathology between LEEP and colposcopic multiple biopsies.Results There were 49 cases showing higher grade pathology,166 cases similar grade pathology,332 cases lower grade pathology after LEEP.Among them,3 cases were early cervical cancer and 3 cases were infiltrating carcinoma.The main complications of LEEP were bleeding and cervical adherence.Conclusion LEEP plays an important role in the diagosis of CIN,especially in early cervical cancer.
