Investigation and analysis of quality of life in children with obesity in Zhengzhou

2019
Objective To investigate the quality of life of children with obesity in Zhengzhou, and to analyze the influencing factors. Methods A self-made juvenile quality of life questionnaire was used to conduct a survey in 1 466 randomly selected objects. The physical conditions of the students under investigation was determined according to national standards, and the quality of life of the respondents was scored according to the questionnaire. The obese and non-obese students were compared to analyze the factors influencing the quality of life of the children with obesity. Results The children with pediatric obesity in Zhengzhou accounted for about 15.0% of the total number of adolescents in the region. There were no statistical differences in school function and partnership between the obese and non-obese students (both P>0.05); but the other 8 items were lower in the obese than in the non-obese students (all P<0.05). Among the obese students, the girls had lower scores in mental health, self-esteem, and depression than the boys (all P<0.05). Conclusions The quality of life of children with obesity is generally lower than that of non-pediatric obesity students. Health education for children and parents should be strengthened and early prevention should be done. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the patients' psychological care and intervention, maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, and advocate multiple aesthetics.
