Use of internal jugular vein catheterization in patients with acute and severe renal failure during blood purification

2019
Objective To investigate the value of internal jugular vein catheterization in the patients with acute and severe renal failure during blood purification. Methods A total of 98 patients with acute and severe renal failure, who were treated with blood purification in our hospital, were included in the clinical study. According to different catheterization by puncture, all patient were divided in to the study group (n=50; internal jugular vein catheterization) and general group (n=48; femoral vein catheterization) . The related indexes of catheterization by puncture and effect of blood purification in the two groups were compared. Results Compared with the general group, the success rate of one-time puncture in the study group was higher in the study group (96% vs. 83.3%) , the catheter indwelling time was longer (45.9±5.2 d vs. 38.2±4.9 d) , the incidences of catheter related complications and insufficient blood flow during blood purification were lower (4% vs.16.8%; 4% vs. 16.8%) . There were significant differences in these indexes between the two groups (P<0.05) . Conclusion Using internal jugular vein catheterization in patients with acute and severe renal failure during blood purification may effectively improve the safety of catheterization by puncture, prolong the indwelling time of catheter, reduce the incidence of insufficient blood flow during blood purification, favor the alleviation of physical pain, and improve the effect of blood purification.
