Concentrations ofplasma atrial natriuretic factor during andafter reversionofventricular tachycardia

1990
Plasma concentrations of immuno- reactive atrial natriuretic factorwere considerably increased(mean 745 (376) pglml)in15patients during spon- taneousventricular tachycardia. There wasnosignificant relation, however, be- tweenconcentrations ofplasmaatrial natriuretic factorandsystolic arterial bloodpressureduringtachycardia. Samplestaken30minutesand24hours afterreversion ofventricular tachycar- diatosinus rhythmshowedthat, although plasmaconcentrations ofatrial natri- uretic factor hadfallen significantly, they werestill raised after24hours.Raised concentrations ofatrial natriuretic factor duringventricular tachycardia didnot seemtocontribute significantly tothe hypotension thatisoftenassociated with thearrhythmia.
