Improvement of the biferroic property by Ca-doping in bulk perovskite YCrO3 system

2020
A detailed structural, magnetic and dielectric study of polycrystalline bulk perovskite sample of YCrO3 and Y0.9Ca0.1CrO3 has been made. Both the samples are found to possess orthorhombic (Pnma) crystal structure. The temperature dependent magnetization data indicates the onset of antiferromagnetic state at around 140K for both samples. The magnetization value somehow is increased towards lower temperature in Ca-doped sample. The magnetic field dependent magnetization data taken at 5K shows similar nature with no indication of saturation even at the highest applied field. The P-E loop shows slanting nature in case of YCrO3 which is somehow improved in case of Y0.9Ca0.1CrO3 indicating a better ferroelectric property in the system. The dielectric-constant vs. voltage loop shows typical ferroelectric butterfly nature in case of Y0.9Ca0.1CrO3 which is absent in case of YCrO3, confirming the better bifferoic nature in Ca-doped sample in the present study.
