Las ficobiliproteínas de Spirulina maxima y Pseudanabaena tenuis protegen contra el daño

The aim of this work was to evaluate if phycobiliproteins of P. tenuis y S. maxima protect from the hepatic damage and oxidative stress caused by Hg 2+ . There were used 42 adult male mice, divided in: 1) control; 2) buffer phosphates (BP) + 5 mg/Kg of HgCl 2 (ip); 3) BP + protean extract (PE) with 100 mg/kg of Spirulina maxima phycobiliproteins (ig); 4) BP + protean extract with 100 mg/kg of Pseudanabena tenuis phycobiliproteins (ig). The mice were sacrificed and the liver was obtained. LP, ROS, catalase and glutathione peroxidase were quantified, and histological analysis was made. It was found that phycobiliproteins from two cyanobacterias avoid the increase of LP and ROS, and they induced a rise of catalase that protects hepatic tissue damage caused by Hg 2+ .
