Background Chronic pancreatitis is increasingly recognized in the pediatric population. Atrophy is an important, but qualitative, finding of chronic pancreatitis. To transition to a quantitative measure that can specifically define atrophy requires knowledge of normal pancreatic parenchymal bulk in children.
