The Analysis Case Operated With Diagnosis of Primary Hyperparathyoidism

2015
Purpose:Primary hyperparathyroidism is a disease that causes excessive secretion of parathormone. In this study, the results of 41 patients that was operated in our clinic because of primary hyperparathyroidisim were evaluated with literature. Materials and methods:Preoperative ultrasonography and parathyroid scintigraphy with Tc-99 sestamibi were applied for diagnosis and localisation to all patients. The data of the patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results:The operations performed in this study were adenoma excision (28), minimally invazive parathyroidectomy (5), subtotal parathyroidectomy (2), total parathroidectomy+autotransplantation in scm muscle (4), intrathorasic adenoma excision with sternotomy (1) and parathyroidectomy with lateral incision (1). Conclusion: Due to a wide range of symptoms of hyperparathyroidism, patients are sometimes treated unnecessarily in different clinics. Multidisciplinary understanding including general surgery, endocrinology, nuclear medicine and radiology is necessary and useful for the management of this disease. Pam Med J 2015;8(3):225-229
