Anatomic measurement of external nose and apertura piriformis and its clinical signifieance

Objective: To provide anatomic data for clinical orthopedics, aesthetics, cosmetology and plastic surgery on the nose.Methods: Measurement of 89 external noses (178 sides) and their corresponding apertura piriformis areas in Cardwell's position X-ray pictures were taken. Also measured were 229 apertura piriformis areas (458 sides) of skull specimens.Results: Important anatomic data were obtained from the measurement. Conclusion:The measurement of the external noses and their corresponding apertura piriformis areas in Cardwell's position X-ray pictures provides reliable anatomic data for clinical plastic surgery of the nose.
