Synthesis of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Modified with Silanes and Their Heating Ability in Alternating Magnetic Fields

Magnetite nanoparticles with controlled particle sizes and a hexadecyltrimethoxysilane surface coating have been synthesized as a model system to investigate the effect of surface coatings on the specific loss power (SLP) under exposure a to low-power alternating magnetic field. It is shown that with decreased surface coating thickness the SLP was improved.
