Extradural hemorrhage after ventriculography

1968
Abstract 1. 1. Three additional cases of extradural hematoma complicating ventricular drainage are added to the literature. 2. 2. The youngest patient was seventeen years old and the oldest was forty-two. All were men. 3. 3. A tumor of the posterior fossa (medulloblastoma, ependymoma, and meningioma arising from the tentorium) was the underlying pathologic process in all cases. 4. 4. Sudden collapse of the enlarged distended ventricle is the main factor in the production of this complication. 5. 5. If an extradural clot after ventriculography is suspected, a portable anteroposterior skull film may reveal a shift of the ventricular system if there is remaining air in the ventricular system.
