Recent Progress in 1,4-Diazafluorene-Cored Optoelectronic Materials: A Review

2021
Abstract As one type of organic semiconductor materials with excellent optoelectronic properties, diazafluorene-cored heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HAHs) have been widely investigated in various semiconducting devices. However, these materials still confront with some difficulties including harsh synthetic conditions and multi-step synthetic methodologies, which further restrict their investigations and applications. According to their unique structural features such as lateral π-extension, vertical π-extension, and steric extension, this review summarizes the research progress of 1,4-diazafluorene (14DAF) derivatives with potential green-synthesis advantage in various organic optoelectronic devices such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic field effect transistors (OFETs), organic photovoltaic devices (OPVs), as well as sensing and ion detection. We believe that 14DAF derivatives would become more and more significant HAHs for the sustainable development of organic electronics.
