Enhanced solar-light-driven photocatalytic performance by the synergistic effects of F− doped and Ag loaded SrTiO3 cubic nanoparticles

2018
Abstract Ag-SrTiF x O 1− x nanocomposites (Ag-STFO) were prepared via one-pot solvothermal method and exhibited outstanding photocatalytic performance for degrading the Rhodamine B (RHB). Especially, 0.5 wt% Ag-STFO showed the best degradation rate of 95.7% under simulated solar light irradiation for 3 h. It was found that efficient photocatalytic efficiency is mainly attributed to the synergistic effect of Ag nanoparticles and F ions. Especially, the presence of F ions not only changed the band structure but also changed the morphology (exposed more high-energy crystal face) for SrTiO 3 . Moreover, the synergistic effect could effectively suppress the recombination of photo-generated electron/hole pairs for substantively enhancing the photocatalytic performance.
