Risco de violência e a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde de idosos independentes

Objective: To identify possible risks of violence could be exposed to assess quality of life related to the health of these elderly people. Methods: Quantitative, descriptive research. The study scenario was the Day Center located in a city in the state of Sao Paulo. For the inclusion criteria, the elderly aged 60 years or older and with preserved cognitive ability and who agreed to participate were considered able to participate in the research. Data collection was carried out from April to July 2017, through a questionnaire to assess possible situations of violence against the elderly, and an instrument that assesses the quality of life profile related to the health of independent elderly, called QUASI. Results: The number of patients registered at that institution totals 30 patients. Of these, 7 elderly people did not have cognitive conditions to answer the form, so 23 elderly people did so. We obtained the prevalence of females, widowed / divorced / single marital status and reported having a good perception of their health. Conclusion: Respond to the objective of the study in relation to the risk of violence and quality of life. In conclusion, the elderly are not at risk of various types of violence, but are relatively financially vulnerable. However, they are positive and satisfactory about the quality of life of these elderly people.
