DLBCL of bilateral submandibular glands and MALToma of thyroid ‐ A rare coexistence

2021
Involvement of bilateral submandibular glands and thyroid by same lymphoma simultaneously has been reported in literature. However, two different types of lymphomas presenting simultaneously at different sites has never been reported. This case report highlights this rare occurrence. A 65-year-old female, known case of Hashimoto thyroiditis with raised anti-TPO antibodies presented with thyroid swelling since one year and bilateral submandibular swelling since three years. FNAC and flow cytometry thyroid gland showed features of Malt lymphoma whereas FNAC and flow cytometry bilateral submandibular gland showed features of Diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry from the submandibular swelling led to similar diagnosis as flow cytometry.
