Instrumental Platforms for Capillary and Microchip Electromigration Separation Techniques

Abstract This chapter describes the instrumental advances on the development of platforms for capillary and microchip electromigration separation methods. Details of high-voltage power supplies, sample injection, and integration of detection systems are described. In regard to chip-based platforms, an overview on the main microfabrication technologies as well as the different substrate materials are described. The ability of miniaturized systems to facilitate the integration of multiple analytical steps toward micro total analysis systems is reported.
