Comparative study on using vaginal lavage fluids before laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy

2012
Objective To compare the disinfection effects of 0.15% iodine solution, 1∶5000 potassium permanganate solution and disinfectant of Chinese medicine-Jieyin lotion through undergoing vaginal lavage before the reception of laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy. Methods 120patients who had undergone vaginal lavage before receiving laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy were selected and randomly divided into 3 groups, with 40 patients for each group. The patients of 3 groups were respectively given 0.15% iodine solution,1∶5000 potassium permanganate solution and disinfectant of Chinese medicine-Jieyin lotion for vaginal lavage for 3 days before the surgery. Then, after the surgery, the observed'indexes were compared:postoperative body temperatures for 3 consecutive days, the postoperative condition of white blood cell (WBC),vaginal mucosa damage,vaginal-cuff healing, vaginal bleeding, and corresponding costs on the 3rd day. Results There were statistical significance (P < 0.01) of the postoperative conditions of vaginal mucosa damage,vaginal-cuff healing, vaginal bleeding and corresponding costs of the patients in 3 groups, and there was no distinctive difference of the observed results of the body temperatures for 3 consecutive days, and the postoperative condition of WBC on the 3rd day. Conclusions The disinfection effects of 0.15% iodine solution is obviously superior to those of 1 ∶5000 potassium permanganate solution and disinfectant of Chinese medicine-Jieyin lotion.Furthermore, in consideration of the production method, cost and environment impacts, the 0.15% iodine solution is also regarded to be superior.
