The shape memory capability and life of CuAlBeX alloys

Abstract The shape memory capacity and the shape memory life of three alloys of the Cu11.6Al0.4BeX type have been investigated using the strain angle restoration method and compared with the alloy Cu25Zn4Al. The alloys were subjected to various normalizing and normalizing plus aging treatments, and all were found to possess excellent shape memory properties. The alloy Cu-11.6Al-0.4Be-0.2Cr demonstrated the best shape memory capacity and life.
