Berlin Conference review. Psychological management and HIV infection.

1993
There were not many studies presented at the Berlin International AIDS Conference on the psychological and psychiatric management of people infected with HIV despite relatively generous resources available in many pattern I countries. Reports on psychological management are in the following 4 areas: surveys of levels of psychopathology or psychological distress; studies which try to identify correlates and predictors of mood adjustment or well-being; studies relating psychosocial factors to disease progression or survival; and intervention studies. Some papers also looked at psychological distress and burn-out among individuals working with HIV-infected people. These papers are reviewed in sections according to topic.
