Using lateral sagittal axial panoramic tomographs to localize the maxillary impacted supernumerary teeth:Report of 25 cases

2005
PURPOSE : To evaluate the value of localizing maxillary impacted supernumerary teeth with lateral sagittal axial panoramic tomographs. METHODS: 25 patients with maxillary impacted supernumerary teeth were examined by using lateral sagittal axial panoramic tomographs before the teeth were extracted with different approaches. RESULTS: Lateral sagittal axial panoramic tomographs could localize the impacted supernumerary teeth exactly and display the shape of crown, root, and the relationship with the alveolar arch. CONCLUSIONS: Lateral sagittal axial panoramic tomograph is valuable in localizing the impacted supernumerary teeth.
