Research on the correlation between the uPA and VEGF recurrence of admantionmatous craniopharyngioma

2013
Objective To explore the expression of urokinasetype plasminogen activator (uPA)and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma and analyze the correlation between the level of these markers and adamantimous craniopharyngiomas recurrence. Methods The level of uPA and VEGF was tested by immunohistochemistry (IHC) in 48 cases of ACP,including 28 cases of primary group and 20 cases of recurred group. Results The expression level of uPA in recurred group was significantly higher than primary group (95.0% vs.42.9%,Z =-3.396,P <0.05).The expression level of VEGF in recurred group was significantly higher than primary group (90.0%vs.64.3%,Z =-2.909,P <0.05).There were mutually positive correlations between uPA and VEGF expressions in recurrent group of adamantimous craniopharyngiomas (r =O.534,P < 0.05).Conclutions uPA and VEGF may be the potential biomarkers to evaluate the inclination of invasion and recurrence in adamantimous craniopharyngiomas.
