NUS tripod and TLP for Point Conception wind farm

Foundation structure designs for Chinese 10 MW wind turbines, for two moderately deep sites offshore Point Conception, CA, were studied by student-faculty teams at the National University of Singapore (NUS). A fixed tripod was selected for the 40 m (133 ft) deep site. A compliant Tension Leg Platform (TLP) was selected for the 75 m (250 ft) deeper site. These depths are beyond the reach of traditional monopile caisson foundations.
