The Why and What of Integrative Pain Medicine

Integrative medicine (IM) and integrative pain medicine (IPM) involve the coordination of the services provided, collaboration among the disciplines involved, a patient-centered focus with acceptance of the patient as a member of the team, attention to predictive and preventative models of care, and, finally, inclusion of social, psychological, and physical factors into the assessment of patients.
