Intestinal atresia caused by intrauterine intussusception: A case report and literature review

2014
Abstract Intestinal Atresia is generally caused by intrauterine vascular obstructions. Intrauterine intussusception is one of these disruptive events. Intestinal intussusception is a disease that affects children commonly between 3 months and 3 years old in 90% of cases. There are few clinical cases in literature that demonstrate relationship between antenatal intussusceptions and ileal atresia. We report the case of a newborn with neonatal occlusion, where the surgical exploration revealed a Type 3A ileal atresia owing to antenatal ileoileal intussusception.
