An unusual double star from A K−-capture in emulsion
1960
During a study of double stars produced by K-- interactions in flight and at rest, a K/sup -/ meson came to rest and produced a 3 prong star. One track belongs to a 62-Mev pi /sup +/ meson, the other two tracks have lengths of 6 mu and 14 mu . At the end of the 6 mu track, a pi /sup -/ is emitted of total range 9417 mu and energy 22.2 Mev. The pi /sup -/ meson undergoes an elastic deflection of 49 deg , 3612 mu before coming to rest. (B.O.G.)
