Encapsulated silver clusters as oxidation catalysts

Because nanometer scale metal clusters exhibit size dependent physical properties, they offer intersting possibilities as catalysts if their size can be controlled within a narrow size range. This paper reports about the interesting possibility presented by nanometer scale metal clusters coated with a semiconducting layer of controlled thickness for selective oxidation of hydrocarbons.
